Elites & Social Inequality - Political Economy - Digitalization

Lion Hubrich

I’m a sociologist associated at Humboldt University of Berlin. In my research, I use the perspective of elite studies to address questions on the intersection of social inequalities, political economy, and technological change. In my recently defended dissertation project, I analysed how established economic elites in Germany adapt to the digitalization of capitalism.

I studied sociology and political science in Berlin, Brussels, and Leipzig. During my doctoral research at Humboldt-University, I received a full scholarship by the German Academic Scholarship Foundation (Studienstiftung). I was also a visiting research student at the London School of Economics (LSE), and I taught sociology at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg. Prior to my academic career, I worked for various consulting agencies, and advised German companies as well as public authorities on matters of digitalization and regional development.
